Mario Garcia Torres
Moonwalk lesson (Rigo Style)
2006, 5 min. (video, black and white)

Contrary to what is commonly assumed, the Moonwalk (or Slide Step) was not invented by Michel Jackson in the early 1980’s. There are at least a couple of known inceptions before the time. One of them is attributed to popular Mexican singer Rigo Tovar (1946-2005) who incorporated it to his stage dancing in the early 1970’s. During that time Rigo did the step tuned to his cumbia music in front of huge masses of people.
Moonwalk Lesson (Rigo Style) is a 37 slide show which documents a group of art students teaching themselves the dancing step.

Olaf Nicolai
Und jedem Ende wohnt ein Anfang Inne
2001, 5:40 min. (video, color, sound)

In this video the artist combines a sequence from Antonioni's Zabriskie Point with a musical composition of Robert Lippok (To Rococo Rot), which compliments Gustav Mahler's 5th symphony. The resulting soundtrack creates a loop-like effect, which accompanies the continuing images of exploding houses. The work was conceived when the artist learned that the original soundtrack was not to be that of Pink Floyd, but of an american rock group which was deemed to be too anticonformist. The given title: "In every end there is a beginning."
